Keshet Cave Rappelling Adventure
Our meeting place for this adventure is in the mountain top forest of Adamit, perched above the northern city of Shlomi, only minutes
from Rosh Hankira. A short five minute walk brings us to a spectacular lookout over the famous Keshet Cave and the Upper Galil region. This 30 meter natural stone arch is a rappeller's delight and it
is here that we set-up the ropes for our exciting descent to the valley floor below.
For those who are looking for a truly challenging experience, you can opt in for our revered 100' military-style rope ladder to climb
back to the top and enjoy a second rappel as your reward. From the base of the Keshet Cave we enjoy an adventurous short but steep climb back to the top, with magnificent views of the Mediterranean
Sea and the Israeli coastline along the entire way.
Once we are wrapped up with the rappelling and hike, we head over to a nearby picnic area beneath a canopy of pine trees to set up our
fire-pit and lunch preparation. This lunch is truly something to remember as we do the process from scratch, from the kneading of the dough to using only friction to light our fire, we discover the
primitive skills in making a tasty a nutritious array of foods including fresh baked pitas, grilled eggplant, and roasted garlic accompanied by a selection of dips and salads and of course Turkish
coffee for the adults and marshmallows over the fire for the kids.
To top off this amazing day, we hike to near by Namer Cave which is in a valley just along the Lebanese border town of Aramshe, home to
several hundred Bedouine families. This natural cave is loaded with stalactites and stalagmites and other unique limestone features that we will experience as we climb, crawl, and slide our way
through this underground wonderland.
