Lower Wadi Darga is synonymous in Israel with "diificult", and for good reason!
Darga requires a full-day of heart-pounding hiking, swimming, and roping our way through a super narrow yet super tall slot canyon. The terrain is sure to make even a seasoned hiker challenged and engaged.
Darga would be a dry canyon throughout most of the year if it were not for the enormous amounts if floodwaters that blast through its walls each winter. These powerful torrents carve out basins that get filled and stay filled months after the last rains. These seasonal pools force everyone to get wet as there is not other way around them (unless you are half gecko).
Though no rappelling is required, this trip does require rope access as some pools can only be accessed by descending on rope military style.
Fixed rungs, steep climbs, plenty of water, and lond strches if beaustful slot canyon make Darga a cut above the rest. Its title as Israel's most greuling day hike is not acheived by naught, Darga is the real deal!
