Zanoach Cliffs
Zanoach is one of our most popular sites. Less than an hours drive from Jerusalem, this local gem is guarenteed to please. Zanoach cliffs is located above the bucolic Wadi Mata with its ancient springs, terraced hillsides, and the ruins of many historic villages.
This lovely site is reached via a 35 minute hike from the parking area which is near the archaelogical ruins of ancient Roman village. (You can opt in for a jeep ride directly to the cliff if you are looking to save some time and energy.) Our hike down gives us an opportunity to learn about the history as well as the local flaura and fauna.
The cliff site, approx 18m tall, has loads of rappelling and rock climbing routes making this the perfect setup for families and groups with varying abilities.
Most of our family trips to this location include our now famous pita-making lunch where we implement ancient methods for creating our fire and preparing our food. Our delightful meal is enhanced with its hands-on dynamic and connective roots in ancient Israelite culture.
